Everone likes to hear, “Don’t New York My Florida,” and “Florida is Full.”  But, the reality is that people will keep moving here because the want to escape from the leftist policies in other states.  In spite of the hurricanes and humidity, Florida is a great place to live.  But, WE have to keep it that way.

We MUST defend property Rights.  That includes the Right to sell your property to anyone YOU choose.  Unfortunately, because so many people want to live in Florida, land developers and investors are taking advantage of the opportunities for profit which are here now.

But, we can neither blame the developers nor the property owners who are “selling out.”  They both have rights that must be defended.  However, legislation, regulation and zonimg must be used to ensure that new development pays for itself.  In other words, the costs of building new infrastructure – electrical, sewage treatment, water – must be borne by those investing and developing, NOT by the existing residents.

This is why local control of government and local control of zoning is important.  Citizens MUST pay attention to the development in their own communities and make sure that their local officials follow their wishes.  State legislation should support this.

The Live Local Act is one of the ways that local zoning control is removed from cities and counties in Florida, and is controlled in Tallahassee.  This should be repealed.
